Symptoms of diabetes

Symptoms of tupe 1 diabetes can start quickly, in a matter of weeks.

But the symptoms of type 2 diabetes develop slowly-over the course if several years-and can be so mild that you might not even notice the symptoms.

Several persons with type 2 diabetes have no symptoms. Some people do not find out they have the disease until they have diabetes related health problems, like :- polyuria, blurred vision and unexplanied weighet loss.

If you are experiencing any of the following symptom, you should be seen by your primary care doctor as soon as possible.

    Extreme Fatigue

The body's primary source of energy is glucose. Glucose is broken down from foods  ( food that contain carbohydrate ) .

Insulin takes glucose from your blood into your cells to use for energy. Because your cells need insulin to take in glucose.

If your body doesn't make enough or any insulin, or if your cells resist the insulin, the glucose can't get into them and you have no energy.

This can make you more tired than usual.

    Excessive hunger

Hunger is a common practice for everyone, but in case of diabetes you feel excessively hungry.

Because cells do not get sufficient amount of insulin, therefore the amount of glucose in your blood increases, which can trigger hunger hormones that tell the brain that you are hungry.

    Blurry Vision

In case of diabetes, your eyes lens gets dry, which you do not show correctly.

But blurry vision also can be a symptom of more serious problems, like neurological disorder.

    Polyuria

    Polyuria means excessive urination.
When you have diabetes, your kidneys draw water from your tissues to dilute the glucose, so that your body can get rid of it through the urine.

Your cells will also pump water into the bloodstream to help flush out sugar, which results in excessive urination.

    Poor wound healing

Poor wound healing is also a symptom of diabetes.

If you have a wound during diabetes, it may take a long time to heal.

If you have diabetes and you have any injuries, then you should immediately show the doctor.

    Unexplained weight loss

If your body can't get energy from your food, it will start burning fat for energy instead.

    Other symptoms are :-

    • Nausea and vomiting
    • increased thirst
    • Itchy skin
    • Sleepy
    • Weak
    • Headache

    Complications of diabetes

Long-term complications of diabetes develop quietly. The longer you have diabetes - and the less controlled your blood sugar ( glucose ) - the greater the risk of complications.

    Possible complications :-

     Heart Disease  💟

If you have diabetes, your risk of developing heart disease is dramatically double than the general population.
    According to American heart association,

    • At least 68 percent of people age 65 or older with diabetes die from some form of heart disease, and 16% die of stroke.
    • Adults with diabetes are two to four times more likely to die from heart disease than adults without diabetes. AND
    • The American Heart Association considers diabetes to be one of the seven major controllable risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Heart disease like coronary artery disease with chest pain, heart attack, stroke and narrowing of arteries.

    Diabetic neuropathy

Nerve damage from diabetes is called diabetic nephropathy

It’s a type of nerve damage caused by long-term high blood sugar ( glucose ) levels. In this excess sugar can injure the walls of the tiny blood capillaries

    Diabetic nephropathy

Diabetic nephropathy is a type of kidney disease.

Diabetic nephropathy progresses slowly. With early treatment, you can slow or even stop the process of the diabetic nephropathy

    Retinopathy  👀

Retinopathy is a condition of eye damage.
Diabetic retinopathy is a condition that develops when the blood vessels in your retina is damaged.

This condition can affect person with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The longer you live with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, the more chance you are to develop complications of diabetic retinopathy.

    Skin and diabetes

According to the American diabetes association, Type 2 diabetes can make existing skin problems worse, and also cause new ones.

Long-term type 2 diabetes with high blood sugar ( glucose ) ,  reduces blood flow to the skin. The ability of the WBC to fight off infections is also decreased.

Damage to the skin cells can even interfere with your ability to sweat. It can also increase your sensitivity to the temperature.

Diabetes can also cause the bacterial and fungal infection on the skin.

    Bacterial infections

Bacterial infections are common for everyone.

In this skin conditions are often painful and warm to the touch, with swelling.

The most common bacteria that cause skin infections are Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus.

    Other common bacterial infections include:
    boils,
    styes,
    folliculitis,
infections around the fingernails and toenails

    Fungal infections

Fungal infections, can caused by the spread of fungus or yeast.

Fungal infection look like areas of red, itchy, swollen skin.

Yeast fungus can grow in the following areas:
in the warm folds of the skin,
    under the breasts,
    in the groin,
    in the armpits,
in the corners of the mouth, and
under the foreskin of the penis

    Foot complications

People with diabetes can develop many different foot problems.

Foot problems most often happen when there is nerve damage.

In diabetic patients poor blood flow or change in the shape of your feet may cause problems.

    Hair loss

Studies show that, If you have diabetes, your risk of hair loss is dramatically double than the general person.

But some research says that, there is no link between diabetes and hair loss.

These are the some symptoms of diabetes.
